Therapy
Anais sighed as she closed the door to her locker at school.
"My life is in a rut. I'm 4 and my life is already in a rut!"
Anais was right, her life was in a rut. Everyday, it was the same routine.
She gets up, goes to school, Gumball and/or Darwin does something stupid, shit happens, goes home, does homework, eats dinner, sleep, repeat. Anais got on the bus ride to go home. She drowned out the sound of her obnoxious classmates telling "that's what she said" jokes or reciting some stupid internet meme they read the other day. Anais pulled out her iPod and started listening to a song
Lyrics:
"Debby just hit the wall,
She never had it all,
One prozac a day,
Husband's a CPA,
Her life went out the door,
When she turned 24,
Only been with one man,
What happened to her plans?"
Anais watched the neighborhood go by as the song played out.
Lyrics:
"Since Springstein, Madonna, way before Nirvana!
There was U2, and Blondjy, and music still on MTV!
Her two kids, in high school,
They tell her that she's uncool,
Cause she's still, preoccupied-
-with 19! 19! 1985!"
Anais's stop came up. She turned off her iPod, and got off the bus. She was followed by Gumball and Darwin.
"Hey Anais, you okay?" asked Darwin.
"Yeah, you look kinda bored." added Gumball.
"Oh, I'm just kinda tired." Anais lied. She went into the kitchen and poured herself some juice. She sat at the table and sighed once more.
"Something wrong, honey?" asked Nicole.
"Yes. My life is in a rut."
"Oh honey, you're only 4. How is your life in a rut?"
"I get up and do the same thing everyday- and, and I'm gonna reach my breaking point and lose it, very soon!"
"Hmm. Well honey, all you need is a mental health day!"
"A what?"
"Let me see your homework."
Anais handed Nicole her homework, which she stuffed down the food disposal.
"My Homework!"
"You won't be needing that, you're sick."
"I'm not sick, I feel fine!"
"Sick in the head, I mean. Tomorrow you are taking the day off."
"What am I gonna do all day?"
"Cousin Spencer is visiting! You'll spend the day with him, he's a good kid. In order to maintain a happy and healthy mind, you must be able to have a clear, carefree consious. In other words, you need to have fun."
"I don't like Spencer, he's weird."
"He's a good kid."
"He lit our slip 'n' slide on fire."
"Hey, I said he was a good kid!"
"I was on it!"
~The next day~
"Come on, dear! Spencer's here!" shouted Nicole from the living room.
"Okay, just have fun." Anais thought to herself.
"Hi Anais!" said Spencer. He was a light blue cat, who looked to be about 5.
"Hey Spencer, long time no see! Wanna play a board game?"
"Sure!"
They ran up the stairs into Anais's room. They decided to play <Insert Epic Board Game Title Here>. It turned out to be really fun! Anais started thinking to herself again.
"This isn't bad. I feel...........I don't know............better! Mom was right! This was all I needed!"
2 hours and one burning slip 'n' slide later, Anais was fully realxed. Spencer left, and now she was lying on the couch watching that Daisy Donkey show or whatever it's called. Nicole came into the room.
"Well honey, how do you feel?"
"Better!"
"I thought you would!" Nicole laughed.
"Hey Mom?"
"Yes, honey?"
Anais, looked at the floor, and then up at Nicole.
"Thanks for being my therapist!"
"What are mother's for?"
